Twining Vine Garden Seed Store, Twining Vine Garden,
One of the few dogwoods that flowers twice a season; once in mid spring and again in the early fall. Quite a contrast with the white flowers along side round red berry clusters. Brilliant red to purple fall colour. Co-evolved with our west coast climate of wet springs, dry summers and mild winters. Does best in either full sun or in open forest. Drought resistant when established. Fast growing. Great pollen/nectar plant for the critters. This year's seed is from trees further up the mountain where its even colder than our sea side garden.
Stratifying fresh seed (never dried) for excellent mid winter-early spring germination. Sow immediately for best results. Sow 7mm deep in coarse sand and apply mulch. Keep moist and cold stratify. Will pop up when Spring weather arrives. I mass sow in large pots and place these in unheated greenhouse when seed starts to germinate so seedling has optimum growing conditions.
Seed Count: 20-25
